PHOENIX (AP) - The Latest on a pedestrian-train accident in Phoenix (all times local):

11:25 a.m.

Phoenix police say a man is in extremely critical condition after being struck by a light rail train.

Sgt. Armando Carbajal said Wednesday the incident occurred near a station at 19th Avenue and Montebello.

The man was reportedly walking on the sidewalk parallel to the tracks and was hit while crossing the street.

Carbajal says police have located at least one witness and are looking for surveillance video that might help explain what happened.

Valley Metro also says the station platform at Montebello and 19th Avenue is closed due to the investigation.

The Phoenix Fire Department says a person believed to be a pedestrian is in extremely critical condition following an apparent accident involving a light rail train.

Fire Capt. Rob McDade says the man was being transported to a hospital Wednesday after being extricated at 19th Avenue and Montebello.
