Lowell School Reviews

Comparing to the other schools that I have worked at, the teaching staff here at Lowell is happier than most. When teachers are happy, students tend to be happier and succeed and want to continue to make their teachers happy. It is a difficult demographic to start with and there are definitely things that we are constantly working to improve. As it is, we are doing our best to improve education for our students. I really love it at Lowell. The students, other teachers and administrative staff are great and I can't imagine working anywhere else.

My son has been in this school since he was in kinder. The teacher and staff have always welcomed me in. I have always felt like if I need to talk to a teacher she will tell me when I can come in and talk to her. I love this school. I am glad my son is there.

My daughter is in kindergarten at Lowell School. She is reading well, has learned addition and substration, and she's writing sentences. Good teachers make a big difference thumbs up for Lowell School teachers.

Lowell students are so well prepared when they are promoted from Lowell's 8th grade, that they enroll in Honor's classes in high school. Many are accepted into the International Baccalaurate Program at North, Brophy Prep, Xavier, and St. Mary's. Music, both vocal and instrumental are available as well as an excellent PE program. Lowell has a Robotics Club, Sally Ride Girls' Science Club, Wake Up Club, girls and boys'basketball teams and boys flag football teams for the older students. Parents are one of the important reasons,Lowell has recently been recognized as an A+ Exemplary School. From Site Council, PTO, trip chaperones to Boyce Thompson Arboretum to Washington, DC, parents are very involved in the decision making process at Lowell. Parents know that students are in a safe and secure caring environment where their children are afforded an excellent education.

This coming year will be my children's second year a Lowell School. Lowell was highly recomended by a co-worker that also has her children attending Lowell. I am so glad that I made this choice in transfering my children. This principal, teacher & office staff make you fill worthy. At the other school I felt that my children were just a number. The office staff & principal also greet you with a smile and are very helpful. The teachers all have the same expectatons for all students and that is to learn, respect, have a positive attitude & no bullying. I made the right choice to have sent my children to Lowell, because a child's early (K- 6) years in education is the most crucial. I would like to also acknowledge the 7/8 grade magnet program who help prepare those students for highschool & college. Lowell You Are The Best!

The teachers need to care a little more and pay attention to the students needs. I see teachers worried about putting in extra time. (Maybe they need paid for working extra and they will care more to give the extra effert). Their on the other hand are a few teachers that care a hole lot. I've seen them put in the extra time and not worrie if they are getting paid for it. Their are lots of programs for the spanish, they tend to cater to the spanish. This school still has room for improvements!

Lowell school is great my son has speech and occupational problems and since he has recieved help at lowell he has made a dramatic improvement the teachers have patience and work well with all students.

This school has a great enviorment, the students are well behavied, the teachers are also very commited to their job.

I think this is the best school my daughter has gone to. She really likes the school, teachers and the friends she has made. I think this was my best choice I have made in my daughters future. The only thing necessary is extra curricular activities. They dont have any reals sports except just for PE. The teachers say that is because they dont have people that volunteer to help the children. I think those volunteer people should get paid. Thats all I have to say about this great and wonderful school.

This school has caring teachers, fantastic medical personnel, courteous, knowledgeable office staff, great support staff that includes instructional assistants. Parents are welcome on campus once they sign in. Security appears good. Fine arts and physical education for students. 7th and 8th grade magnet with an excellent program.

'I've had two older students graduate from Lowell. Well they were there they recieved many challenges from the teachers. They had learned alot. Know that they are in high school they are exceeding very well. I also have two younger daughters there and they are doing very well. I would like to see more extra curricular activties such as sports, clubs etc.

My children were enrolled in a charter school. I won't mention the school name but when I transfered them to Lowell they were lost. The expectations were so high. My children were really low on reading, math and everything. Lowell has a reading program called SFA. This program has worked wonders on my children's reading skills. The teachers worked closely with me and explained what I could do to help my children at home with the different skills. At the end of the year my children had A's & B's. Even Stanford 9 test results were high. From a scale of 1 to 10. I give Lowell a 10. They're the best.

My child didn't learn anything there. The teachers wouldn't tutor after class or give extra help.

What a great idea to have this site for for parents to express there feelings. My children who are now adults attended and graduated from Lowell School. At that time it was nowhere close to how it is now. They now have their children attending Lowell. They could have them at the school up north where they should be attending. Thanks to open enrollment! Lowell has been a blessing for my grandchildren & the community. The teachers, staff & principal look out for the best interest of the students. You go to the school and you feel so welcome. I know that my grandchildren are academically being set up for future. They also instill values, goals, positive attitude & pride. Thank you all at Lowell for making Lowell School an enjoyable place for children to learn. Si se puede!

Lowell School is not somewhere that I would ever send my child again. The largest problem is with the principal. When my son was in ISS, I had to speak to another teacher instead of her. She appears to miss a great deal of school. My son also told me that she was never in classrooms. How can a principal know what is going on with her staff if she is never in classrooms? Maybe the district needs to get real Assistant Principals if district meetings are keeping principals away from their schools. Overall, I think the teachers were fair and very unbiased. They were friendly and cooperative. My concern is with the principal and her 'holier than thou' attitude when dealing with parents and students.
