Fremont Junior High School Reviews

We absolutely love Fremont! Everything from top to bottom! The administration is wonderful if you take a minute and involve them. Most of the teachers are wonderful to work with and many even have doctorates. My daughter has excelerated in her classes (all ELP) been involved in student council, held offices in clubs, and is looking forward to sports next year. I recommend parents to be involved. If I have issues be proactive and be involved! You owe it to your student. Thank you Fremont!

My child is passing all of her grades and doing amazing i love this school very much!!

The upper administration refuses to work with parents reguarding their children. There is a communication break down outside of the classroom. My children speak highley of the teachers and I receive plenty of feedback from them, but I am very disappointed in the administration and parent involvement when it come to knowing what is going on with your child outside the classroom.

I am a current student at Fremont Junior High. Overall, the school itself is great. The teachers are all there to help you reach your goals and make your 3 years at Fremont your best. Fights are not too often at Fremont. However, security is very good at catching it and the principle is nice & can be very strict. Ms. Christy, the principle, is very involved as well as Mr. Beckert. The teachers all encourage parents to ask any questions and be involves as it is very essential. The school is very old as it has been around for 40 years. It is a great Junior High with a talented group of teachers and staff.

I have two children going to Fremont. They have only been in the Mesa School for about three month. They have been approach about drugs a few times. I thought was stranger in a jr. high. Other wises we have had no problems and the teacher need to start using the parent portal if they are going to go out of there way to give usernames and password.

My child loves that school it gave him a great look on life and what he was capibuly of doing.

My 2 children have been in Fremont and one is Senior and never had any problem with drugs, sexual activity or peer pressure. My daughter is senior and is Aplus student and excellent children. Sorry but if the child fallow the right crowd and goes with a mission to school, it is going to be great results. Mother

The school looks like a dump because its old. Your students will be involved with creepy people ONLY if they choose to, there are DECENT students at Fremont too. It all depends on your child and who they want to be friends with. There are ELP and AA classes that are challenging. ALl you have to do is sign up for them. This is all coming from a student.

Fremont was a let down for my kids. I agree with the reviews about classes not being challenging. This place is a dump, and it reflects in all areas.

I so regretted sending my daughter here. This school is rough, and I was afraid for her. If you're going to send your child to this school, drive them each way (not the bus - way too out of control) and have them take the harder classes so that they actually do some work.

In response to the parent commenting that sons/daughters of faculty are favored, I would disagree. I am the son of a teacher and if I even talk back in class my parent knows about it in two hours or less. I am expected to follow the rules more than anybody. For example, I kid who looked like me (both long.long red hair) was making out and my parent knew about it before I did. Fremont isn't a bad school. Yes, if you take general classes you aren't challenged. That's why they call them general classes. Fights are not out of hand. There are just as many here as at any other school. Yes the buildings are old, but it's been here since 1968. If you expect a 'new' school, then move. The teachers are great. Mr.Marcum, the band director, rocks. He is the Chuck Norris of band directing.

I disagree with what some people have said about Fremont. I went there all of Jr. High. And I now go to RMHS, a school that prides itself in the difficulty presented in academics, and athletics. Fremont couldn't have prepared me for High School any better. For one, they don't offer 'advanced placement classes.' I think what they do is better. They judge your test scores on the AIMS from primary school. And if you exceeded they put you in classes a grade level up. For example, as opposed to Arithmatic in seventh grade you take Pre-Algebra and a Bridge to Geometry. The teachers teach exceptionaly well, and the athletics coaches are phenomenal. I am now on the RMHS varsity debate team, I'm an active member of NJHS, and club RIF. And, I recently qualified for the AP program. It wouldn't be possible without the help of Fremont Jr. High.

My 3 oldest kids went here. In retrospect, I should've learned after the first and sent the second 2 somewhere else! My youngest will not go to Fremont. There isn't enough challenge, even taking all of the advanced placement classes, which my children did. I don't feel that the school properly readies the students for high school. I also feel that teachers are allowed to favor the children of faculty who attend Fremont. The principal is combative when approached with problems. Before writing this review, I tried to consider the positive aspects of Fremont but couldn't come up with any.

I am a former student at Fremont Junior High, and the 3 years I spent at Fremont were the best of my life so far. My teachers not only encouraged me, but challenged me to do my best.

I am a former student at fremont and I thought that it was not challenging at all. Because I am trying to get into a very prestigeous high school I was transfered to a different school. The power reading class is a good option though. I do not recomend this school to anyone who cares about education.

My daughter is a 7th grader at Fremont, she has been extremely challenged academically by taking straight AP classes. Her teachers have encouraged a high level of personal student responsibility. This school took approximately 50 kids 7th & 8th grade to Washington DC. Ms. Christie, principal, is very involved, I have seen her at several evening activities. I have contacted several of her teachers throughout the school year about a variety of issues by phone or email and always has a prompt response no later than the next day. It is the largest Jr. High in Ariz. and could benefit from some reduction in size.

This school has been a huge disappointment. The classes are easy enough to breeze through unless the child opts for the advanced classes. The football program is great. The art department is great. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.

My child is excelling in every way at this school. While attending a local elem (Red Mtn.) I didn't realize just how stiffled he was, acedmecially and personally. He is a 'new kid' at Fremont and loves the friends he has made, the teachers he has and the wonderful opportunities for advanced classes, volunteer work, extra curicular activites (not just sport related). There are many amazing and wonderful educators at this school - that continually go above and beyond to meet the needs of your child (and then some) (Mr. Whitehead is a FAV.!)

This is overall a fantastic school. The advanced classes like world history, english, and math are very challenging. My child had Mr.Whitehead and Ms. Garroute in seventh grade. In eighth my child learned alot from bothe her 8th grade elp english teacher, Ms.White(who's now moved up to AA english), and Mr. Wepfer, the eighth grade elp World History teacher. Mr.Wepfer promotes learning with fun activities the whole class enjoys.

This school isn't challenging enough without signing the child up for advanced classes. Parent help/involvement isn't welcome. The fights at this school are out of hand. I've had 2 kids go through this school and I'll be sending the 3rd somewhere else. The buildings of the school itself are old and run down - I find the whole environment depressing. I can't think of one positive thing to say about this school.

Not a bad school and most of the teachers seem nice. My children have made a lot of new friends and I think the atmosphere is good. The class size is fine and the teachers seem dedicated to helping even the slowest of learners. I recommend this school to all who have children in the area.

My child has attended Fremont for the last two years and is now attending this year. We have had a wonderfull experience with this school and most of the teachers. Most of my childs teachers have been challenging for him and very helpfull. Some are more available for extra help than others. I think that's the one thing they need to work on, more time available for students who need help. My child has been involved in sports, art, and music, and has enjoyed them all. As for parent involvement, I think that is up to the parent. I am very involved in my childs school work and activities and have been encouraged to do so by the school staff.

Academically this school is not challenging enough for students who will be going on to college. Music program is awesome. They need more extra curricular activities available for 7th graders. Parent involvement seemed minimal.

I haven't had one good experiance with this JR High as a parent, my children attended three years, they want to pick and choose when you have the privilage of having parent involvement, they have all the necessary contact numbers and still have a difficult time with contacting parents, they refuse to work with parents reguarding their children and their behaviors and I could go on and on about not recomending any child to attend this school. This JR High has had a bad reputation since the late 70's and still continues to have a bad reputation.
