Camarones: the best action's outside

Experience the flavor and armoa of traditional Mexican comfort food as you dine at Camarones.

There is plenty of indoor seating, including a full bar, but the real action goes down outside in the cantina. There, you can enjoy a more bar-like vibe with music, drinks and fun!

The menu at Camarones includes many options — burritos, chimichangas, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, steak & shrimp dishes, pasta, chili, huevos rancheros, tamale, soup, salad and more.

But first, you'll be served complementary chips and salsa, as well as Mexican sweet bread with honey butter. Then there are 11 different starters to choose from.

Your options include bacon-wrapped chicken or shrimp, chile con queso, beef and chicken crisp rolled tacos, Mexican pizza, quesadilla, fiesta nachos, the fiesta platter, shrimp avocado cocktail, camarones ceviche and peel & eat shrimp ($7-$12).

Camarones offers several soup choices. The posole is a traditional Mexican soup made with hominy, chicken and pork simmered in a chili-seasoned blend of house spices. Options also include green chili chicken soup and tortilla soup. A cup of soup is $4 and a bowl is $6.

The house specialties include the burritos, chimichangas, tacos and enchiladas.  Each can be ordered with your choice of meat; choose from chicken, ground beef, shredded beef, pulled pork (carnitas), steak or chicken fajita, carne adobada or carne asada.  You can also order anything vegetarian style. All of the house specialties are served with rice and beans ($10-$13).

For a bit more variety, choose one of the combination plates. Choices include tamale, taco, chili relleno, burrito, enchilada, carne adobada, chicken stuffed sopapilla, tortilla soup, posole or creamy green chile chicken soup. You can select two to five items for your combo, and each combo is served with rice and beans ($12-$15).

Or, try the sizzling fajitas, served with a side of tortillas, beans, and guacamole and pico de gallo, choose from chicken, steak, shrimp, vegetarian, or any combination of meats ($14-$19).

On Sundays, check out the brunch specials.  The menu features a variety of traditional Mexican dishes, a live Mariachi music, a chocolate fountain and many other deserts. Brunch prices range from $9-$16, and you can upgrade to the margarita or champagne brunch for an additional $4.

The Camarones lunch menu includes many of the main menu items in smaller portions. Lunch specials are served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. ($8-$10).

There are two other Camarones locations throughout the Phoenix metro area:  in Scottsdale at the shops at Gainey Village and in Chandler at the Chandler Fashion Center.
