Sister to Sister Heart Health Fair Location: Postal code 85034, United States Phoenix, Arizona 85034 Starts at: 12:00 PM This is not an all day event Description: Hello Ladies, As many of you may or may not know, I was recently recognized as an Ambassador for the local Sister to Sister Foundation. Sister to Sister is a national non-profit organization dedicated to preventing heart disease among women through free cardiac screenings. I am personally connected to this cause because hypertension runs in my family and I have been taking blood pressure medication since my early 20's. I've had a few very serious bouts with my pressure being so high to the point of hospitalization. I share this with you not to get sympathy but simply to impress upon you just how serious this issue is. Especially as African American women, we face a a much greater threat of death from heart disease than women of other races. In 2002, our death rate from coronary heart disease was 169.7 compared to 131.2 for white women. These statistics show that heart-health education among African-American women is crucial. Click here to learn more about Sister to Sister Foundation... As you will see the fair is on Thursday, May 22nd and it goes from 12 - 8:30. There will also be a Phoenix Mercury game that night at 7pm. As an incentive to get women out there early, the first 200 people to come out and get screened, will receive a free ticket to the game that night. I put the time on the Meetup as 12 noon but just know that you can come out anytime between noon and 8:30.
