I almost died

I gave birth to my son there and it was a terrible and painful experience. They were too busy to take the time to properly examine me. There were 4 women giving birth at the same time with only one nurse and one midwife. I was alone the entire labor. The midwife didn't help me, I had to call her into the room everytime it got really scary. After my child's birth i couldn't urinate and had to be catheterized. I still couldn't urinate after being catheterized and I told the nurse, she told me that I was just being uptight about it. She saw me trying to urinate a number of times but not succeding. I should have been transported to the hospital. She released me without ever seeing me urinate. I called them several times that week to tell them that I was in pain and wasn't properly urinating. The nurse did a home visit and saw how enflamed my whole stomach was and only told me to take motrin. I had my baby on a sunday and that friday my bladder ruptured and I spent 3 weeks in the hospital after almost dying. I had to have a major surgery to repair my bladder and almost did not live to see my child grow. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They don't care about women, that whole week I called them they dismissed it as if I was being a baby. Even if I hadn't almost died the birth experience was TERRIBLE. They are not women helping women.

This natural birth center pays a lot of lip service to woman care and the natural birth process but not if you are unfortunately a VBAC client. You are not allowed to birth at the center. And your hospital birth comes with a lot of conditions the most important of which is that they will not even allow you to use the hospital's labor tub because they insist on continuous monitoring. This is a very VBAC hostile practice. Also, they are not terribly professional. 2 out of 4 appointments were cancelled after I was in the waiting room.
Pros: Parking
Cons: not vbac friendly, missed appointments, coerced interventions
