Chompie's offers huge portions at small prices

Published: Jun 7, 2009

Open since 1979, Chompie’s has been serving up delicatessen favorites, sandwiches and bakery goods to the hungry patrons of Arizona. When the Borestein family moved to Arizona from Queens, New York, they came with a dream of opening a family-run restaurant and bakery business. Over the years, their business has grown and they have expanded with two more stores, catering services and a wholesale bakery that supplies local supermarkets, hotels and restaurants.

Chompie’s is best known for their award-winning matzo ball soup, mile high deli sandwiches, bakery goods and their substantially large variety of New York-style bagels and bialys: 35 types to be exact. But the best of Chompie's can be seen on the faces of their many satisfied patrons. Offering reasonable prices and menu choices galore, you're sure to find something that'll make both your tummy and wallet happy.

Bagel and bialy choices include everything from apple cinnamon, banana nut, and cheddar, to cinnamon crunch, chocolate chip, and jalepeno, with cream cheese flavors to match.

But at Chompie’s, cream cheese is certainly not the last and final word in bagels. A variety of bagel breakfast sandwiches are available as well. Load up yours with items like eggs; ham; spinach; corned beef hash; lox; cucumber; and avocado.($3-$7)

Other breakfast favorites like pancakes, sausage, omelets and crepes are also available. ($4-$14)

Deli favorites like corned beef reubens, liverwurst, pastrami and chicken salad sandwiches are never in short supply. Served with a side of New York-style potato salad or coleslaw, Chompie's really brings the taste of the Big Apple to Phoenix. All sandwiches can be ordered by the whole or half. ($6-$14)

Chompie's also offers burgers; grilled sandwiches; salads; soups; and dinner platters and many bakery treats. Click here for their complete menu.

Every Monday through Friday, kids 10 and under eat for free with the purchase of any dine-in adult meal of $7.50 or more.

In addition to the Tempe location, Chompie's has two other restaurants. Visit them at the Mercado Del Rancho Center, 9301 East Shea Blvd. in Scottsdale; and at Paradise Valley Mall, 4568 East Cactus Rd. in Phoenix.

All locations are open daily from 6 a.m.- 9 p.m.

Also, follow Chompie's on Twitter.com @chompiesaz. They offer special discounts exclusively on Twitter.
