From the street view, this restaurant is hidden between Big Lots and Food City in the strip mall at the southeast corner of Scottsdale Road and McKellips. But, inside awaits a delicious experience that will satisfy all of your senses. If you work nearby, this is a great spot to escape the office for lunch. Taj Mahal has several lunch specials ranging from $7-$10. Try the Bhindi Masala—okra sautéed and cooked with tomatoes, onions and peppers flavored with cumin seed and spices. Or, the Chicken Curry—boneless chicken breast with onion, tomato gravy sauce and spices. All specials are served with Naan, balsamic saffron rice, yogurt, lentils and salad. For a heartier dish, try a Tandoor dish. Tandoor is the Indian cuisine version of fajitas--served on a sizzling clay platter infused with the sweet smell of herbs and spices. Tandoor is available with chicken, lamb, jumbo prawn, salmon, vegetables or a mix of all of the meats. This dish will tantalize your senses! Most traditional Indian staples are present on the menu, so if you’re longing for something comforting and familiar you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the quality of aromatic flavor combinations at Taj Maha. Be sure to save some room for satisfying your sweet tooth, Taj Mahal offers desert items including Kheer—basmati rice with milk and sliced almonds or Gulab Jamun—cheese ball fried and soaked in spiced sugar syrup.
