The Chuckbox: charbroiled deliciousness
For more than 35 years, The Chuckbox has been satisfying the hungry folks of Tempe with pound after pound of fire grilled burger goodness. Located just across the street from ASU, at the corner of University and Forest, the smell of charbroiled burgers draws the college crowd in by the dozen. The rustic appeal of this burger joint makes it clear who the real star is, the beef!
There are no secrets at The Chuckbox, you’ll have to yell your order across the room while standing in line behind the rest of the carnivorous craving patrons. Once you’re burger is ready, grab a drink, some sides and head on over to the self service condiment bar. There, you can load up your burger with fixings any way you like.
On the menu there’s a burger for anyone with a big ol’ appetite for beef. If you dare, give the great big one a try—one half pounds of special ground beef. Other burger options include the bacon cheese burger, guacamole burger and the Tijuana torpedo—toped with jalapeno jack cheese and a green chili. If beef’s not your thing, try the chicken breast sandwiches or the garden burger. You can order either one the same way as the beef burgers. On the side, choose from fries, onion rings, fried mushrooms, fried zucchini, chili and hot dogs.
The next time you’re in Tempe, let your nose lead the way over to The Chuckbox for lunch, your stomach will thank you! One important note: the Chuckbox is a CASH only restaurant, so leave the debit cards at home.
