House of Tricks dishes out delicious treats

Located in the heart of downtown Tempe, House of Tricks restaurant has charmed the hearts (and palates) of diners since 1987 with fare ranging from the House special B.L.T. to grilled rack of lamb.

A huge part of House of Tricks' success can be credited to head chef Kelly Fletcher, who combines a French and Southwestern style to create a flavor that captures the diverse New American culture of Tempe.

For lunch, the restaurant offers many options, including salads, soups, sandwiches and daily specials.  The B.L.T. is made with house-cured maple-pecan smoked bacon, organic tomatoes, watercress and toped with a roasted garlic mayonnaise dressing between two pieces of fresh potato bread and served with potato salad. 

Another lunch specialty is the grilled salmon with baby lettuce, avocado, sweet roasted red peppers and cherry tomatoes served abed tortilla hay with chipotle-grapefruit vinaigrette.

House of Tricks' dinner menu includes a variety of chicken, lamb, beef, and seafood dishes.  Other options include the grilled rack of lamb with chorizo green chili yogurt, grilled red onion and cilantro potato puree. The pan seared rare Ahi tuna with edamame puree, soy buerre blanc, and tempura shitake mushrooms are sure to make your mouth water.

Reservations are advisable, especially on weekends. 

Diners will also find a wine and microbrew selection at affordable prices, and the restaurant regularly host wine events for novice and connoisseur alike. 

Tastings, typically from $35 to $60, are usually scheduled from 6-7:30 p.m. and come with a variety of cheese and fruit.  Following any of the wine tastings you can get 10 percent off of your dinner bill the same night.
