Caffe Boa: fresh organic cuisine and wine bar
Caffe Boa's eclectic menu offers dishes influenced by Mediterranean, Slavic, Asian and Cajun cuisine. Yet every item remains seasonally inspired, all natural and organic.
Open since 1994, Caffe Boa, owned by husband and wife team, Jay and Christine Wisniewski, is in the Mill Avenue District of Tempe. Boa offers a large selection of wines including over 500 bins, 50 by-the-glass selections and wine flights. (See wine menu.) Be sure to check out the monthly wine specials, too!
Start things off with one of Boa’s many summer small plates on the menu. Try the mussels steamed with shaved leeks, garlic, white wine, shallots, parsley and lemon cream and served with your choice of bread ($13). Or, give the cheese board a try: Choose from a selection of imported cheese served with walnuts, dates, grapes and grilled toast ($7–$15).
Or choose one of the salads, including Caesar ($8), Persian cucumber ($10), mixed market mesculin ($7) and buttercup lettuce with grilled chicken, sliced almonds, avocado and sunflower sprouts topped with a champagne-lemon vinaigrette ($10).
The panini choices include Italian vegetable, beefsteak, meatballs and turkey or chicken breast (each $8). Or try the Kobe beef half-pound burger topped with bleu cheese and caramelized shallots and served with Yukon gold wedges ($14).
Caffe Boa offers many pasta dishes, as well. The house favorites include the homemade Agnolotti ravioli filled with grilled portabella and cremini mushrooms and a sauce of tomato, herbs and cream ($13) and the linguini served with shrimp sautéed in garlic, oregano, artichoke hearts, red onion, feta cheese and tossed with cream sauce ($16).
Caffe Boa offers daily lunch specials that are as affordable as they are flavorful. You can choose any salad and Panini ($9) or any salad and pasta ($12).
Finish things off at Caffe Boa with a delectable dessert off the eatery's dessert menu, including crème brûlée, tiramisu, Key lime pie and Nutella tart (all $9).
