31st Annual Scottsdale Culinary Festival: great food, great fun

Published: Mar 20, 2009

The 31st Annual Scottsdale Culinary Festival is an opportunity to experience all of the culinary culture that makes Scottsdale an idea destination for exquisite cuisine, fabulous wine, and unbeatable company.

For years the Scottsdale League for the Arts has hosted the event, attracting local business, residents, and attendees from all over the world.

One of the highly anticipated events is the GAP — Great Arizona Picnic — at the Scottsdale Civic Center Plaza.  At the GAP you can sample food from more than 50 area restaurants, see cooking demonstrations, sample hard liquor drinks, try over 200 different beers and dance. For families there will be a Kids Zone.

The GAP will take place from noon to around 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, and from noon till 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 19.

Another of the many events scheduled is the Wine Country Brunch.  The brunch will be at the InterContinental Monteluia Resort & Spa on Sunday, April 19, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Wine Country Brunch is an opportunity to sip champagne, sample fine wines, and dine as you soak up the beautiful view and surroundings of the Resort & Spa.  Also, there will be a silent auction on some fabulous culinary items.  Tickets are $65 per person.

The Cooks & Corks event at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts April 18-19 from noon-4:30 p.m. is sure to be a hit with anyone who has an interest in cooking.

There you can experience cooking demos from some of the nations hottest chefs. There will also be a wine and mixology seminar, and sampling from culinary delights from several valley restaurants.  Tickets are $75  Saturday and $65 Sunday.

One of the festival's more upscale events is the Best of the Fest dinner —  a five-course meal that will be created tableside by one of Arizona's top 11 chefs as the festival finale!

The elegant evening event will be at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa on Sunday, April 19 beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets are $175, and attire is cocktail.

For a full list of the many events planned for the six-day extravaganza and their locations, check  the program guide. Tickets to all events are available online by clicking here.
