The 85th La Fiesta de los Vaqueros will run from February 20-28 , 2010 at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds. Current and former Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) world champions will be featured at the Rodeo. Rodeo events include bull riding, bareback and saddle bronco riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping and women’s barrel racing. Each year, about 650 contestants from the United States and Canada compete for more than $320,000 in prize money.

In 1925, Tucson saw its first La Fiesta de los Vaqueros (Celebration of the Cowboys) with a three day event filled competition. Today, the event has grown to a nine-day celebration centered on the Tucson Rodeo, one of the top 25 professional rodeos in North America.

For the little ones, there will be kids’ events including the Dodge Mutton Bustin’, where four-to six-year-olds test their riding skills on sheep, and the Justin Junior Rodeo for young cowpokes ages 7-12.

One of the highlights of the Rodeo is the Parade. This year's parade will feature a two-hour spectacle of western-themed floats, buggies, historic horse-drawn coaches, festive Mexican folk dancers, marching bands and outfitted riders.

So, for an opportunity to see real-life cowboys and cowgirls display their ability in sport be sure to check out the Rodeo!

Tickets are on sale now, so visit the Rodeo website for a complete schedule of events and for ticket sales locations.
