Desert Breeze Railroad provides old-time fun

Published: Jun 4, 2009

All aboard! The Santa Fe Engine train at Desert Breeze Railroad is tons of fun for little ones.  Kids love to chug along on this three-quarter mile ride through the old-time train station tunnel, fishing lake, trestle and the scenic park. Like a time machine that transports riders back to the nineteenth century, the scenery features a dry goods store, hotel, saloon and even a jail.

This small park packs big fun for families. A colorful antique carousel, which has brought smiles to the faces of children for more than 50 years, provides the perfect opportunity for family photos that will capture a lifetime of fond memories.

Four coin-operated rides keep the kids entertained while waiting for the train to arrive. At just  50 cents each, they won't break the bank, but they are sure to induce childhood delight.

A snack bar is located on-site and is stocked with lots of kid-friendly theme-park favorites like ice cream, corn dogs, and soft pretzels.

If you’re looking for a magical birthday experience for your child, Desert Breeze Railroad staffers can help.  A variety of party packages, which include snacks, ride tickets and decorations, are available. Visit the Desert Breeze website for more details.

The railroad is located within Desert Breeze Park. The park also includes an outdoor playground and splash pad that is perfect for cooling off in the summer heat.

The Desert Breeze Railroad is open from Aug. 4 to May 31 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m.  In June, the park is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 - 9 p.m. The railroad is closed from July 1 - August 3.

Tickets are $1 each or a book of 20 for $16. A ride-all-day wristband is also available for $7. The train requires 3 tickets, and the carousel 2 tickets.
