Community Farmers Markets: fresh, local
Published: May 19, 2009
The Arizona Community Farmers Markets offers fresh and organic foods, attractive pricing and tips for preparing produce and other products that come straight from the farm.
The locally organized and run markets support the local economy and sustainable farming, while bringing fresh foods to consumers. Vendors are required to be small local growers and farmers or their family members or agents.
Products at the markets include seasonal produce, baked goods, jams and jellies, eggs, meats, cheeses, salsas, spices, jewelry, flowers, hand-made craft products, lotions and soaps.
Planning a visit to a farmers market? Here are a few tips:
- Bring your own shopping bags
- Bring cash — change and small bills
- Shop early for the best selection
- Wear comfortable and cool clothing, use sunscreen and bring drinking water.
There are several valley locations, and each is open on different days and times.
