Visitors to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix will find a colorful gem nestled within the Papoga Park red rock buttes.  the Garden offers an ideal destination for anyone seeking a naturally tranquil and picturesque experience.

The current exhibit is Chihuly: The Nature of Glass. Vibrantly colored glass pieces placed throughout the grounds of the Garden paths add a burst of artistic color to the desert landscape, naturally complimenting the shape and variety of the desert scene.

This exhibit runs through May 31. Reservations are required.

The Desert Botanical Garden also hosts “Music in the Garden, Winter Concert Series 2009,” which offers a variety of musical programs  from noon-2 p.m. each Sunday through Feb. 22. The upcoming concerts will feature folk rock, Brazilian world, Bluegrass and classic guitar and violin. Advanced ticket purchase is recommended and can be ordered online or by phone at (480) 481-8188.

From March 7-May 31, the Garden will feature a Spring Butterfly exhibit.  To kick off the exhibit, children 3-10 can have breakfast surrounded by butterflies on Saturday, March 7 or Sunday, March 8.  Reservations are required.

The garden’s serene setting provides  a tranquil lunchtime experience at the Patio Café, which offers a variety of gourmet sandwiches, salads, kid’s meals, drinks and other snacks.  The beef and gorgonzola and the grilled vegetable sandwiches are worth a look -- or a taste.
