The Farm at South Mountain: a tranquil escape

Published: May 5, 2009

With a relaxing retreat, an on-site naturopathic medical office, an art gallery, an organic market and dining options, The Farm at South Mountain offers a tranquil escape from busy city life.

The 12-acre Farm at South Mountain is only 8 miles from downtown Phoenix. Visitors find inspiration under its pecan trees and serenity throughout the organic gardens.

The grounds include Maya’s Farm, specializing in organic produce and flowers. Founded on the philosophy that the best food comes from locally grown sources, Maya's  supplies garden fresh vegetables for dining at The Farm and for sale on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

At the Retreat, guests can enjoy soothing natural massages, choosing from the hot- and cold-stone therapy, shiatsu, vibration essences, facials and more. There are also classes in yoga, meditation, chi gung and creative exploration. Call (480) 326-0658 to make an appointments in the Retreat.

On Saturdays from 9-10:30 a.m. there are yoga classes on the lawn; call to reserve a spot.

The naturopathic medical office is home to licensed healthcare practitioner, Kimberly Landino, who offers a variety of naturopathic medicine options and treatments.

The Artist’s Studio is packed with works by local artists. You can shop for crafts and gifts, enroll in an art class or writing workshop and listen to an educational lecture.

Meals are available at three locations: Morning Glory Café, the Farm Kitchen and Quiessence Restaurant. Each specializes in locally inspired dishes prepared with fresh ingredients from local sources,.You can dine indoors or outdoors under the shady pecan trees — perfect for a small gathering or celebrating a special occasion.

The Farm at South Mountain is also available for weddings and special events
