Arcadia Ice Arena: chilling things down in the Valley of the Sun
Published: Apr 14, 2009
Swizzles, axels and spirals — oh my! The Arcadia Ice Arena offers a huge selection of opportunities on the ice.
You can attend one of their many public staking sessions, figure skate, play hockey and much more. The arena offers both public and private lessons, as well as skating camps, to suite any age or skill level. There is so much going on, Arcadia Ice Arena's monthly calendar is the best way to keep track.
Interested in learning to play hockey? Courses are offered on Saturdays from 9-10. Already know how to play? You can purchase stick handling or open hockey time for $15 per person. Buy in bulk and get 15 passes for only $150 — a savings of $75.
Future hockey players in the family can sign up for the $115 Mini Mite program, which teaches basic skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. Programs run in nine-week sessions on Saturday mornings from 9-10. Mini Mites also get a free hockey jersey and free public session admissions.
If figure skating is your ice sport of choice, Arcadia offers freestyle blocks of time, as well as group and private lessons. If you looking for a way to keep the little one's cool in the summer heat, check out the figure-skating summer camp.
Just want to skate without all the fluff or commitment? Public skating sessions are a great place to start. Children under 3 are free with a paying adult. Admission ranges from $3.50-$5.50 and skate rentals are $2.50. There is also a snack bar available which offers beverages and snack items.
